1 cup unsalted butter, softened 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar 4 large egg 1 tablespoon vanilla extract 2 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/2 teaspoon salt 1/2 cup whole milk Handful of strawberries/berrie Sprinkle of powdered sugar (optional) Scoop of ice cream (optional)

Step 1

Turn on the oven to make it warm at 350°F (175°C). Then, put some oil and flour on a round cake pan to keep the cake from sticking.

In a big bowl, mix the soft butter and sugar together until it looks fluffy and light.

Crack open one egg at a time into the bowl. Then mix it really well. After that, add yummy vanilla extract to it and mix it.

In another bowl, mix together flour, baking powder, and a little bit of salt.

Now, slowly add all the ingredients from the other bowl into the big bowl with the butter and sugar. Mix it together and add some milk little by little and mix it in too.

Pour everything from the big bowl into the cake pan. Smooth the top with a spatula, making it nice and flat.

Put the cake pan in the hot oven and set a timer for 35-40 minutes. When the time is up, use a toothpick to poke the cake in the middle and if it comes out clean it’s ready.

After it’s done baking, let the cake sit in the pan for 10 minutes. Then, carefully move it to a cooling rack to cool down completely.
